Thomas M asked: Some people claim that the border wall in San Diego dropped crime by 50%. Over what time frame did this happen? And what were the changes in the crime rate in other cities far from the border during that time span?

Anthony T asked: Electrical problem on 2001 Subaru outback?
Electrical problem
2001 Subaru Outback 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic
I checked out this car and did a draw test on battery. it was good but the starter would drop volatge below 4V when cranking. Seems like a bad starter, but,
I noticed with the lights on, the two relays would rattle like going on/off many times a second.
I drove it after a jump, and the battery and brake lights went on and off spuratically. I turned on the blower motor and when the two dash lights went on, the motor increased in revs. a few times when they were off, the ABS light would come on. After a few miles, the guages started to fail then come on simultaniously, and once, the ignition went dead for a second and started firing again. The lights dim and brighten and when the switch is off (daylight sensor only), they would come on and off.
I tested resistance between alternator and battery, and it was at 3mV. a bit high, the alternator charged at 13.9 and 14.5 when reved, but then, would cut and charge at 12.9 and 13.6 when reved out of the blue. Very strange.
Any help would be appreciated.
at idle charging at 14.1V
with headlamps on and blower motor on high, it dischages from 12.8-12.5.
alternator?

buidavid@sbcglobal.net asked: I just recently bought a fixer has outstanding code issues which were mitigated before my ownership. I applied for permit to replace the foundation. The code compliance inspector came and stared to dig out more problems outside and inside of the house, threaten me to let him go inside the house, he said “let me in or I will come back with a warrant” and he started shooting lots of photos and also said “if you touch anything I will fine you”. He said I might have to open existing ceiling skylight to see the framing, pointed out the plumbing, electrical outlets, etc…
I never touched anything since bought as is and the house is about 70 years old.

singleguyca asked: when i first bought the car the battery light keeped coming on. I tightened the wire and seem to fix the problem. car ran good for first week, then shut off for no reason. Looked like the car was over heating. Radiator had a hole so I took it in and had the radiator and thermistate replaced. car drove fine for a day or so, then the battery light start to flicker off and on and the car stalled again. It started up again after about 10 min, it seems to run fine, but i can’t tell if its still over heating or it’s something electrical. It’s seems to stall more when it’s hot outside if that makes any sense or after i’ve driven it for a few hours.

AllieKat asked: Adding to my troubles-we have wood walls in all but the bathroom and kitchen! Since we rent this apartment, and are on a budget, major renovations are out of the question for the most part. Any idea of how to brighten up and decorate/organize such a place? It’s kind of drab and dismal…I would love track lighting but know the landlord would never in a million years pay to have it installed lol. Just looking for some interesting and creative ideas on ways to decorate such a place.

skw asked: We are considering removing a wall (an inner wall) and are concerned as to whether the oak hardwood flooring runs beneath the walls. The home was built in the 1950’s.

nitesead the giant hobbit asked: I’m looking to switch from apartment renting to house renting in the next year or so. My only “amenity” requirement is a back yard for my dog. What are the little things people miss when choosing a house to rent…considerations in healthy living, structural issues, plumbing, electrical, and also anything regarding the property manager. I know a few things from my own experience, but I want to be as careful and thorough as possible, which is why I’m taking some time with this. I hope this question isn’t too vague or broad. Thanks in advance!
PS: I live in New Mexico (Albuquerque).

r2002 asked: I’m keen to train some fruit trees to grow along an outside wall of my house - espalier style, but I’ve seen the damage that tree roots can do to concrete foundations (cracks, movement etc) and to plumbing - which is also likely to be nearby. Are there specific methods of making sure the roots only grow away from the wall/house, or does the nature of the fact that the tree is so trimmed and trained mean that roots just don’t get big enough to be an issue? Is it a concern?
