Cantrelle asked:

I know nothing about loans and such, we want to remodel our inherited home but aren’t sure which loan is the best.

Details: It’s a CBS single-family home in South Florida, completely paid off, built in 1990, and in excellent condition, it just needs some upgrades and remodeling.

Thanks in advance!

KristenCO asked:

I have an idea for a home improvement / reality show that would feature my house and family. The idea is totally unique and brilliant, if I do say so myself. ;-) Are there agents that represent such a thing? What are they called? (I know there are actors’ agents and screenwriter’s agents, but this is different, right?) How do I find one?

I’ve been renting a home for the past 5yrs. About every 4 mo the plumbing backs up. 1ba upst/2ba dwn. wat2do?

plumbing issues
reese asked:

The pipes w/n the walls “gurgle” at night. The backup has happened at least every 2 months for the last 6 months. We’ve snaked, sent a tv in, use the garbage disposal longer. The back up will last 6-8 days, then clear. I am assuming that because we live in front of the main sewer hole, then maybe we are getting the back flow from everyone else’s pipes. We are renters and now after 5 yrs our landlords typed us a letter stating that this issue is a nuisance to them and if we continue renting from them, then we do so taking on the problems of the plumbing ourselves. Each time there has been a back up (in 5 yrs) the landlords never sanitized or disinfected the floors or walls. Are we at risk of black mold? What should we do?

is it harmful to inhale drywall dust while pregnant?

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008
alex asked:

I am 37 weeks pregnant and my husband is finishing our basement. The dust is evrywhere and impossible to control until they are finished. I now have a sore throat and feel horrible! I try to stay in my bedroom but the dust travels and I am worried it is harmful to the baby. We are hiring a cleaning crew to come in next week to deep clean everything. Does anybody know if inhaling this dust is harmful to the baby or myself?

Black smoke coming out of muffler and electrical signs not working?

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008
Lucky Man singh asked:

I have a old winter beater, a 1992 Hyundai Pony has sort of work (has its on and off days), anyways, the problem is it shoots out black smoke, shakes when it drives and the electrical system is pretty much fried, the left turn signal turns on the radio and the right signal does not work at all. I think its time to retire the old beater…is there anything I can do? or should I scrap it….

Broken pipes under the house?

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008
plumbing issues
Bran asked:

A friend of mine just moved into her grandfathers old house. He died a few years ago and the house had just sat there for over 2 years, unlived in. Someone was in and out of the house just doing some painting and fixing up things here and there, but that’s it. Well, they moved in a couple weeks ago and now they have had plumbing issues. Turns out that there are broken pipes under the house. Does anyone know about what this costs to get fixed?? Any plumbers out there? She is calling trying to get estimates and stuff, I just wanted to see if she might be paying too much.
Thanks :) She has cast iron pipes under the house. I don’t know about a crawl space though. She lives in New Orleans, I believe they just have to dig and then fill the hole back in.
