russ_0067 asked: My wife and I want to completely renovate two bathrooms in a home we are purchasing. There are just too many local choices to choose from. Are there any nationwide chains out there? In particular, ones that offer financing?

cheryllinda1953 asked: The structure presently there is an aluminum frame with the individual slats of glass that crank out and a storm door. I want to remove this and frame it in and finish it with siding or something else but I’m not sure how to frame in an outside wall and what is needed as far as insulation or protection from the elements for the outside of the wall.

Lisa G asked: I’m dealing with some -old-. toilets (1970’s-ish) and older plumbing (60’s). The toilets don’t back up too horribly much, but to my knowledge, this plumbing has never been snaked or any such other thing. They do seem to go down fairly slowly. I’m wanting to give the house a slight make over and just… you know, make it ‘fresh’ (we bought it in July-1 owner before us). Does anyone have any suggestions for these toilets? Should they be replaced? Should I get the lines snaked? Are there more things you can do in this situation to help out the plumbing that I’m unaware of? =) Any advice would be -great-! Thanks!
Ah,I should’ve said this before. We’re not on septic-we’re on city sewer system. =)

Dana G asked: I need a check list if possible, I can’t think of anything besides plumbing and electrical problems but if I could get a checklist, that would be great.

Sharpnessa asked: This is a true question, could he have some sort of bowel issues going on? His movement is bigger than any man could do. I have to actually break it up with a plastic knife before I flush or else have to plunge and plunge to resolve it. It is not our plumbing because no one else in the house causes this problem. I mean this happens everytime he goes. I am worried there is something wrong.

SRINIVASAN P asked: How can I protect the floor from any scratches? is it true that if I keep a portion of the floor covered with a rug, the floor may lose uniformity in appearence?

Concerned Newhomeowner asked: We recently had our bathroom renovated. The house was ready on June 1. Since then, there have been three minor issues, but lead us to be concerned that we can continue to expect more issues. First, the seal to the toilet was put on incorrectly and caused a water leak. Second, where the pipe and the wall for the rain shower head had a small leak also. Lastly, a few pieces of grout (or sealant?) where the tub & shower wall tiles meet just below the faucet for the tub are coming off. So far, the contractor has been quick to fix the first two problems. I am just concerned that these minor issues might point to faulty work in the plumbing that is not easily seen or in the way the tiles were laid in place. Is there any way to tell that these are just minor problems or not? If I have another tradesman or two come to see it, what should I ask them to look at? I should mention that I removed the plate where the shower faucets are, and there were no leaks behind them that I could see

fbelo31 asked: I am constructing two walls in a nursery (1: 8′x44″ // 2: 9′6″x44″). The floor is solid concrete. What methods can I use to keep “free” ends of the wall from swaying and possibly collapsing if someone leans against them too hard?
I have tapped the concrete with redheads and lag anchors. It keeps the wall to the floor, but there is still play in the frame of the wall.
Any insights?

Katherine M asked: I really want to sell my house, which is hard enough in this market. But I also have an issue with the plumbing-every 4 months or so we have a back up and need to be rodded out. The problem is not that bad as the city I live in comes out for free and blows out the pipes. Then we are usually OK for 4-6 months.
One plumber claims that we have “bellies” in the pipes and need to have them replaced at a cost of at least $4000. We do not have the money to do this.
My question is, am I better off finding some way to fix it, or try to sell the house as-is and disclose it, offering some type of cash back at closing? Also, any plumbers out their with suggestions? Thanks!
I should have made clearer that the pipe in question runs under our concrete driveway. Also that we are responsible, per city ordinance, up to the main which is across the street. Probably the reason for the high estimate.

jaded asked: I have spent thousands of dollars waterproofing my basement. My husband won’t get off his lazy *** and start framing the walls for the basement. I don’t want anything expensive or fancy. I just want walls instead of concrete. Can someone give me the jest of how to frame a wall? I am just going to do it my self. Thanks
